Get to know Mercedes

My path to qualification was anything but conventional having obtained my Bachelor of Laws through self-taught study with the Open University. I continued my studies undertaking the LPC at the University of Law and applying to the Roll of Solicitors in November 2021. I have immense pride in my achievement and believe that my non-conventional path has made me a well-rounded, personable, empathetic, and highly motivated solicitor.

Throughout my career, I have worked with some of the most highly esteemed personal injury lawyers and have been involved in many high value, high profile cases. My experience has not only taught me the importance of both attention to detail and passion, but also taking a collaborative approach to ensure a positive outcome. I aim to help those most vulnerable to understanding the legal system and work with empathy and compassion to ensure that they feel supported and informed at every stage of what is often a very stressful and confusing process.

Career highlights

One of my career highlights is assisting in a successful Court of Appeal case which resulted in an extension of the boundaries of the law of vicarious liability following a violent assault.

Another career highlight was assisting in a complex matter involving multi-national clients, creating a relationship of trust, and achieving a multi-million-pound settlement for the injured party.

The extra mile

The firms I have worked for have shared my vision and have been keen to promote understanding of the benefits of the legal system to those most vulnerable. I have, for example, attended a number of union events and have provided advice to union members. I have independently raised money for charities such as Road Peace and have been involved in charitable schemes with The Silver Lining and The London Air Ambulance.
