Katie Payne
Solicitor
I am lucky to have such a rewarding and interesting job where no working day or case is the same. I am passionate about supporting my clients and gaining justice for them through difficult periods of their lives.
Get to know
I completed my law degree and Legal Practice Course at Swansea University before qualifying as a solicitor in February 2021.
In January 2022, I joined Slater and Gordon’s Cardiff office where I am a part of the clinical negligence department’s complex team.
I manage a caseload of varied clinical negligence claims including claims relating to delayed or missed diagnosis, oncology, gynaecology, surgical negligence, maternal injuries, stillbirth, orthopaedic injuries, and claims against GPs.
I also work with senior solicitors on catastrophic and high value cases relating to spinal injuries, amputation, and complex birth injury and cerebral palsy claims.
We were fortunate enough to instruct Katie from the Cardiff office in relation to a very sensitive claim. Katie was super supportive and empathetic throughout, we can’t thank her enough or recommend her highly enough. Thank you. Client testimonial for Katie Payne

Career highlights
It is a great privilege to assist clients in gaining justice and compensation after they have suffered as a result of medical negligence. I appreciate how intimidating making a claim can be and find it rewarding to be able to support my clients throughout the litigation process to a satisfactory outcome.
Although no amount of compensation can make up for what a client has gone through, it is greatly rewarding knowing that I have played a part in helping my clients gain closure and security for their future.
The extra mile
I regularly take part in fundraising and charity activities for Slater and Gordon’s local charity partners, including running the Cardiff Half Marathon for Cerebral Palsy Cymru.
