Charity partnership
Amaze partners with Slater and Gordon
Amaze is a charity which supports disabled young people and their families across Sussex.
Amaze works across Brighton & Hove and East Sussex to give information, advice and support to families who have children with special educational needs and disabilities.
The charity offers both online resources and in-person support even to those who do not have a formal diagnosis for their child, and works with thousands of families each year.
Amaze has now partnered with Slater and Gordon to help sustain and develop its much-needed services, with the law firm providing funding towards its parent and carer support groups.
The groups offer in-person opportunities for parents and carers – including a dedicated dads’ group, one of only three in the country to offer specific support to fathers of children with additional needs – as well as online groups and befriending services.
The funding will allow Amaze to sustain and develop its popular groups, which create much-needed social opportunities and emotional support for those with caring responsibilities who can often be isolated and feel alone.
“Amaze plays a really vital role in the community, supporting families who often feel alone and wondering where they can access support, particularly those who do not have a formal diagnosis for their child. The wide-ranging support Amaze delivers is much needed and greatly appreciated by growing numbers of families,” says Nisha Sharma, principal lawyer at Slater and Gordon, who is based in Brighton.
“Its parent and carer groups can be a real lifeline for many, and the peer support and opportunities to meet with people who face the same challenges and who truly understand your situation is invaluable. We are really pleased to partner with Amaze, and support them in their vital work.”
“We are excited by our new partnership with Slater and Gordon. We are really grateful for their support which will not only help us fund our parent groups and befriending service across Brighton & Hove and East Sussex, but also provide new knowledge and support to our teams who are advising parent carers.” adds Ros Cook, Head of Services at Amaze.
